Adaptive Parent Child

We are a LEARN-TO-SWIM, self rescue focused, underwater swim program, we will teach you how to teach your little one how to swim. Swimmers MUST start swimming with us before turning 3. If your child is older than 3 and has not yet start swimming with us, they have aged out of our program. We start classes as young as 2 months old.

Spring 2023 - Powers Aquatics. - Hanover, MA

We offer classes 7 days a week - morning, afternoon and evening

They need to be between the ages of 2 and 36 months to start with us.  After your child has turned three years old they have aged out of starting in our program.

Four sessions - winter, spring, summer and fall

Cost is dependent on the number of weeks in the session. The current per class price is $21.

We do NOT offer a waitlist.

You can let your instructor know upon return you missed a class.  We cannot accommodate makeup classes.  If the Powers Aquatics team needs to cancel more than one class we will then offer a makeup option

It’s okay because this is normal!  Often when children are uncomfortable or faced with challenges their response is to cry.  Most PA parents and ALL PA instructors have been through this with their own children.  We are here to support you and ask that you work through those tears - they are still learning!

If your child is not potty trained for at least six months they must wear two layers of diapers (one disposable and one reusable). Reusable diapers may be purchased at powersaquaticsswag.com.  Other helpful items include:

Swim suit for yourself, optional swim suit for baby (many babies wear just the two layers of diapers), Towels, snacks, drink, easy to change into clothing (for both of you)!

Yes, classes will fill very quickly, especially our Newbies level.  The weekend and evenings typically fill the quickest.

We do not, which is why we have people who travel from all over MA, NH, RI and CT for their weekly lessons.

Unfortunately not.  We are primarily a parent/child program and require children to be under the age of three years old to start with us.  We find that after that many children are more successful in non-parent/child programs.

There are LOTS of programs and swim instructors out there!  Not all of those programs/instructors are created equally.  You want to find a program that focuses on water safety and full immersion swim.

You need to ask these important questions:

1. Will a flotation device be utilized in teaching my child to swim? If the answer is yes that program is NOT for you.  You do not want any flotation device on your child in the pool.

2. Will my children be taught to go under the water? You want to hear "yes"!

3. What is the experience/training of your instructors? You want to ensure instructors have received the proper training that is necessary

4. Will my instructor be the same week to week? Consistency is so important, you want the instructor to get to know your child and their strengths

5. What is the instructor to student ratio? With non-parent/child programs this is so important for both safety reasons and to be able to see growth in your child.

**You should see progress in weeks not months**
