I have been working in Aquatics for the last 23 years and have had every role out there. I am not a huge fan of working in the office, I much rather be in the water teaching and on deck coaching!
I started PA 12 years ago when I moved back to Boston from the Bay Area. My kids have all been in weekly lessons with us since they were just weeks old.
I love having the crying/more challenging kiddos in my classes! I love even more having the opportunity to teach parents how to be calm, cool and collected with their little swimmers. And to teach them to push through tears to teach their child to love the water, be safe in the water and learn how to swim!
Drowning is the biggest preventable risk to our babies up to the age 4. Simply teaching a child to swim does not create a family culture of water safety BUT teaching the parents how to teach their child to swim sure does! And that's what PA is all about!
I run PA and teach Inclusive Parent Child Level 1, 2, 3, Little Crushes Level 1, 2, 3, PAST 1, PAST 2, Adult Lessons, Adult Masters, & Community Lessons.

I have been working in Aquatics for over 20 years and am a Pool Rat for LIFE. I have worked for many great swim schools and swim teams in and around the Boston area. I started with Powers Aquatics at the end of 2020. My son was two old when Powers came to the area but I’ve had the pleasure of working beside PA for years. I love teaching all the levels but my favorite is little crushers level 2. Being able to teach swimmers the proper form of freestyle (especially the side breathing) at such a young age gives me such pride. I am really excited to see where all these swimmers will be in a few years on the competitive level. I teach Parent Child Level 3 and Coach Little Crushers, 1, 2, 3, PAST 1, PAST 2, Adult Lessons & Community Lessons

I teach parent/child levels 1, 2, 3 and Little Crushers levels 1 and 2. LC1 is my favorite level to teach, as kids are transitioning from parent child to little crushers. The transformation from beginning of the session to the end is incredible to watch. Once the tears dry, the nerves settle and they begin to find their confidence in the water you can see them really come into their own as a swimmer. I love to open water swim and have completed multiple triathlons. When I first signed up for a triathlon and realized I didn’t know how to swim properly, I signed up for triathlon swim classes. I ended up falling in love with that leg of the race and have finished many sprint triathlons and open water races, my longest being a 1 mile lake swim! I graduated from UMass Amherst and worked in the non profit sector for several years until I decided to stay home with my son Riley. I love to be near the water - whether it be the pool or the ocean. The beach is my happy place and I spend as much time there in the summer as possible. I enjoy running, Taylor Swift, having multiple unfinished craft projects at a time, and losing myself in a good book.

Water has been the story of every summer of my life for as long as I can remember! Whether it was the South Shore Country Club or daily swims at my grandparents pool, or swimming off the family boat! I am a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and a Licensed Applied Behavior Analyst. I work with kiddos aged 2-22 and their families impacted by Autism Spectrum Disorder. I love getting to be a part of everyone’s “I did it!” Or “we did it!” moments. Sometimes the finish line can seem/feel so far away and the second it clicks- is the best experience to witness & be a part of! I love every level I teach because each brings more “we can do hard things” moments & I love experiencing all of those! Outside of swimming I love all things Boston Sports! We are a big hockey family so you can almost always find me at a rink :)

One of my favorite parts of teaching is seeing their smiles when they do something they thought they couldn't! If I had to pick a favorite age to teach it would be preschool aged children. The majority of them come to class excited and motivated to learn - and we get to be a part of growing their skills and watching their confidence grow! Outside of teaching for PA I am a pediatric ICU nurse and a mom of 2 and being outside ! I love walking (extremely slowly with two kids in tow), hiking, swimming and just exploring outdoors with my family.

I swam competitively through high school and taught swim lessons for several years. I’ve been having so much fun sharing my love of the water with my daughter in Parent Child 1. I’ve worked in a variety of roles supporting kids academically, most recently as a one on one special education aide in the public school system. I love when a kiddo gets the hang of a skill they’ve been working really hard at. I enjoy teaching littles as each of their personalities and experiences are so unique. It’s fun to figure out how best to help them build their skills and confidence. I love spending time with my family, gardening, at the beach or pool, and reading.

Throughout high school and college I worked as a lifeguard. I became involved in parent child lessons with PA in 2018 and have been through the parent child program 3 times with my boys since. I have always been involved in working with kids whether it has been in a school or therapeutic setting.Working with kids to build social/emotional confidence has always been a personal and professional passion of mine. My favorite part of teaching is seeing a swimmer overcome a fear, once they feel confident with a skill they are working on, the smile and pride on their face is priceless. Being part of those moments makes all the tears worth it! My favorite level to teach is LC1. Transitioning a swimmer from PC classes to swimming with a teacher is a struggle, but they make so much progress and become so independent. Outside of teaching I love spending time at the beach with my family!

I participated in American Red Cross lessons from age 5 till I was eligible for lifeguard and water safety instructor certification. My teaching style could be described as creative, positive and inclusive teaching style. Everyone deserves to know how to swim, it is our job as teachers to figure how they learn best. I’m the teacher who is going to consider your child’s social and emotional well being while learning the skill of swimming. If you are a parent of a child who needs a little emotional TLC I’m your coach. Are you stuck on a skill that your child can’t master? I’m that teacher who will think outside the box to achieve that swim skill and cheer / cry with you when your child has an “I did it moment”. I love teaching all the levels, but as of late I’ve been enjoying teaching parent child three and little crusher 2. Both of these levels can be challenging for our swimmers with learning a multitude of skills. I love to breathe fresh air into uncomfortable situations, mastering holding a kickboard board or learning 3 strokes in a 30 minute class as a two year old. I teach parent child Newbies, 1,2 and 3. As well as, Little Crushers 1,2 and 3.

My aquatics background started with high school swim team. During both high school and college I was a lifeguard and a swim instructor. And for the last 11 years I was an assistant coach for SAEC a Stoughton Special Olympic swim team. Those swimmers have taught me that anything is possible in the water. I love teaching all types of swimmers! I really love seeing kids express their emotions but challenge themselves as they work through things that are hard. There is no greater feeling than when they shout, "I did it!" once they complete something they have been working on! I love teaching both LC1 and LC3! The LC1 swimmers are so fun to watch as they enter their swim journey independently. I love watching their personalities shine as well as their confidence as they complete skills independently. With LC3, swimmers are a fun challenge as I watch them build their endurance as they challenge themselves with distance and strokes. They build true stroke form and as they grow you see how they glide through the water completing each stroke. I teach PC1,2,3 and LC1,2,3.

My husband, Joe and I live in Smithfield, RI with our two kids, Eden and Cameron and our rescue pup, Maisie. I started working for PA in 2022 and have been a parent participant in the program since 2018. I was never a competitive swimmer but I did synchronized swimming when I was a kid! I love to help parents who don’t know the best way to support their child when they’re crying every week at lessons or are having trouble with a skill. It’s amazing when kiddos master skills and are proud of themselves but it’s even better when parents realize how much their baby can do and they start to really embrace the PA program! Supporting both kids and parents is important to me because this program can be challenging at times. Screaming and crying doesn’t bother me at all, I’m happy to step in and do some swims with your kiddo if you need help! I love teaching parent child level 2! It’s so exciting to watch when kids start to understand what we’re asking and they put it all together. When they master rolling over to their back, I love to watch how proud they are of themselves! I teach Parent Child levels 1, 2 and 3.

I swam competitively in high school and have taught swim lessons on and off since I was 16 years old. I love connecting with all kids and building a foundation of trust while also having fun! I love helping the more anxious kids grow in their confidence and ability and grow to love the sport of swimming. LC1 is my favorite level to teach as I really enjoy watching the kids grow into fully independent swimmers. I really enjoy teaching a solid, strong rollover as that is the greatest milestone to being a safe swimmer. It truly is amazing to see what our 3 year olds can do! I teach Parent Child (1-3), Little Crushers (1-3), Past 1, and Past 2.

I started swimming competitively at 6 yo on a summer league team and that led me to joining a USA Swimming club team where I trained until graduating high school. I was a Division 1 distance freestyle swimmer at UCONN for 2.5 years. In addition to my competitive swimming career, I was a lifeguard at the local country club in high school. My goal is to make every kid feel comfortable and find their own confidence in the water. I bring a mixed teaching approach of pushing the kids past their comfort zone, correcting when needed & giving them the space to learn on their own while cheering them on. It's so rewarding to have a swimmer push through their own struggles (big & small) and come out stronger & more confident! My favorite skill to teach is side breathing in freestyle. It's challenging to both teach & learn and it's amazing when a young swimmer is able to piece all the drills together into real freestyle! I coach LC1, LC2 and LC3.

I have been swimming since I was 3 and was on a summer swim team as a child. In high school I was captain of our sailing team. I swam competitively for the Wheelock Wildcats in college. I love working with all kids, but I work well with the kids who are struggling or displaying lots of behavior/emotions. I am also an elementary school special education teacher and deal well with the bigger emotions and providing structure and routine expectations to my classes. I love showing the kids (and their parents) that it’s okay to be upset, it’s okay to have big feelings, but that we need to learn to be safe in the water while doing so. I love helping kids work through their emotions and accomplish new skills in the water. Watching them feel that sense of pride as they float for the first time or master their roll over gives me all the feels—it’s why I do what I do! Knowing I’m helping kids learn to keep themselves safe in and around the water, while also giving them confidence is one of my favorite things about this job. My favorite level to teach is PAST 2. I love working with these kids and seeing how far they’ve come and getting to really fine tune their skills and coach them is incredibly rewarding. I coach Little Crushers levels 1-3, PAST 1, PAST 2, and Masters.

I joined my first swim team in first grade and continued on until middle school. My love of swimming again carried on through high school where I joined the swim team for both freshmen and sophomore year. I try my best to meet my swimmers and their families where they are at. Every swimmer is different and I enjoy tailoring my lessons and instruction to meet the needs of each individual swimmer. I truly enjoy getting to know each and everyone of my students and helping them develop a love for the water and for swimming. It is such a gift to be a part of the Powers Aquatics team and I look forward to many more years to come. I like teaching Little Crushers 1 students. These students are beginning to learn how to swim independently from their parents and it is where they will make their biggest gains. Their confidence and excitement grows as there skills develop and it is so wonderful to be able to watch that process unfold. I teach LC1, LC2.

I swam for a few different USA swim teams (Strypers, Gators and Squids) and continued swimming at Northeastern University. After college I coached for a few different US teams on multiple levels (ages 5-18) and coached a few high-school teams. My favorite place is closest to the pool. I love working with kids who need and want a challenge. To be pushed in ways that can teach them to be safe and how to feel comfortable in the water. I can deal with tears louder than how we talk. I can deal with hitting if they don’t want to be near the teacher, that’s cool too. Anything uncomfortable, we work through and it’s incredible to see the progression! I like the challenges and rewards of all levels within the Powers Aquatics program. I teach all levels of Parent/Child and Little Crushers.

I played both Soccer and Softball collegiately, where I met my wife Kim. We live in Marshfield with our son Anderson and daughter Quinlan. I began my aquatics career at the age of 17. While in college, I interned for a year at Walt Disney World’s Blizzard Beach. After graduation, I served as the Aquatics Director and Head Swim Coach of the Malden Crocs, a YMCA and USA registered club team. I coached at the Y for 11 years training all abilities from novice through National qualifiers. I am currently a high school PE teacher at Madison Park in Roxbury specializing in teaching swimming and Lifeguard Training. I have also been the Head Girls Swim and Dive Coach at the Boston Latin School since 2017. My children and I have participated in PA since 2020, and I have been a PA instructor since 2022. My favorite component of teaching is sharing in my swimmers’ excitement when they have developed a new skill! I have been in the aquatics industry for many years. I can honestly say that Kristen and her PA curriculum have revolutionized, lifesaving swim instruction for young children. I am truly grateful that through PA my own children have become confident and competent swimmers. I am extremely honored and excited to be a member of the PA team! I coach Little Crushers Levels 1,2,3, and Transitional Lessons.

I swam competitively though out my childhood and into high school. In high school I was on the varsity swim team and water polo team all four years. As a senior in high school I worked at a local aquatics program in San Diego, teaching swim lessons for two years. After graduating I returned to my high school as the freshmen/novice water polo coach. I coached the team for two years until moving out of state. Collectively, I have been teaching/coaching swim for ten years. My teaching style is firm but flexible. Not all kids learn the same so being able to adapt to how a child learns best is very important to me. I enjoy working with kids that are energetic and supportive parents that are dedicated to the success to their children through our program. My teaching style is firm but flexible. I worked as a lifeguard, and water safety instructor from 15- 21. I moved out to Massachusetts from Minnesota at 22. I was the Assistant Aquatics Director at Quincy YMCA from 2008-2010. There I coached SSYMCA Strypers, taught some water aerobics, taught swim lessons (parent child through adult) , developed a swim triathlon class, and became a lifeguard and WSI trainer. I also met Kristen here before she opened up Powers Aquatics! I took a break from aquatics to have my kids. I really love helping kids and adults believe in themselves and achieve things they didn't think they could do. It is amazing when kids or adults succeed in something they couldn't think was possible for them. Being part of a hard journey and coaching them to not give up is so rewarding. I love to teach PAST and adults! Teaching stroke techniques and Can do mindsets is awesome!!!

I feel that I am very intuitive and am able to read children’s feelings and vibes just by looking at them. When I see a child that is sad or upset, I like to ask them what I can do to help, as opposed to what is wrong. I have a calm and positive teaching approach. I love teaching children of all ages. I’d have to say that I may like to teach breaststroke, because it is my favorite stroke. I teach Little Crushers level 2.
